After D and I had a fabulous evening with Stas and Lena, we celebrated "Student Day" (a national holiday in Ukraine) with our two friends Igor and Anna. I would like to mention that they are probably the cutest couple in the world! Anyway, they picked us up and we had to make a stop before we went to have tea and cake with them to celebrate. First we went to Anna house. I have never, in my entire life, been in a house so nice. I was expecting some kind of flat, but it was a huge house. We didn't even see the entire house, but I think we went into about 12 rooms! It is true that it is not 'her' house, but her stepfathers. The kitchen was gorgeous with high ceilings, then there was a beautiful family room with a dining room next to it. Then upstairs there were three gorgeous rooms. It was victorian style rooms and there there was like this beautiful area that overlooked the family room. We figured that that was all of our tour, but she continued and said that there was nothing upstairs (but the fact is that there was an upstairs!). Then when we got back onto ground level, she took us downstairs! D and I just dropped our jaws in awe! We went downstairs and she turned on the lights to a room with a swimming pool! Unfortunately it was empty, otherwise I would have jumped in fully clothed! It was at least 10 feet deep too! Too much fun! Then when we really did believe our tour was over, she opened another door to a huge billiards room! We were seriously in shock! That was the end of our wonderful tour of her home. I am sad because there are only two people living in that home. It is empty! I am sad about that. It could be being used! Anyway, then we headed to her sisters flat for tea and homemade cake. We talked for hours with Anna and Igor. It was such good conversation. We talked about corruption, about schooling, about businesses, about music, and of course about languages. I had a really good time with them and I am really glad we got to spend more time with them. Their English is fabulous and it makes me want to learn another language so much more. Will write more soon.
love always,
