MY JOURNAL ENTRY
9/21/10 - Day 22
"Today was a good day. I cannot deny the fact that my classes were excellent and my morning was interesting. This morning Helen made us the best omelet and then Deidra and I met Sara and Emilie and went to the Chernobyl Museum. I was extremely interested and just wanted to learn more about all of it. It was a huge devastating event. 500 times more devastating than Hiroshima. I can’t even fathom that in any way. I was just in shock. So the museum was interesting for me. I learned a lot of things that I didn’t know. I almost knew nothing about the plant except that it blew up. The radiation still affects children today...the radiation is in the water here. And it is in the genetics so some children today are still affected because of their parents. This was literally 25years ago. Much more recent than I even realized. To say the least, it was devastating and unreal. They had robots to clean up the debris and all the radiation infected things...and the robots were destroyed because of the radiation...so they had young healthy men do the work instead. They were fully covered with suits and masked and were allowed to work two minutes before they had to switch shifts with other workers. So unreal. That was this mornings adventure that we went on."
Here are some pictures
This artist wrote a poem on her painting...Do you see all the words? This is on the entire painting.
